It can be done... But in my opinion not worth it
One of the goals on a welding table top is to have it pretty dead flat and even so you can have accurate measurements off of it etc, not have it bend or warp as you thrash on it etc...
Start with something better... Not worth the extra effort in...
As far as taking advantage of someone that is willing to pay the higher price.... It's no more that buying something dirt cheap that you know is way more valuable... Rarely do you see the buyer up the price to what it's really worth...
Some guys make their living buying stuff they can...
Listed an old car for sale once.... Not in a big rush to sell it etc and listed it for what I felt was a bit on the high side but was willing to haggle the price alittle
Had a guy call me and tell me my price was too high... My response...
THEN DON'T BUY IT *******.... And I hung up on him...
I think the file was just to do a quick check if the head was flat or remove some gasket material or some other little flaw.... It wasn't really fixing the issue... It was just something he did it while the head was off...
