Thanks for the compliment! And a nod to several members here, like nine4gmc, who are wonderfully supportive.

Show us your cool, "old" drill press

Completed this a while ago (2 years), so apologies for not posting it sooner. Did 2 more drill press restorations in the meantime, but no pics of those. Anyway, saw this 1963 Beaver/Rockwell for $60. Bought it, tore it apart, restored it, then gave it to my neighbor as a wedding gift. Before...

Thanks for the quick reply. Also tipped it upside down to see if there were any casting numbers in the base, but no such luck. The good thing about all of this is that it works! D

Show us your cool, "old" drill press

After much searching and waiting in my area, I purchased a North American made drill press. A Beaver, at $85. It's 15 or 16 inches and it weighs a lot. Took me and a buddy to lift it into the back of the truck. Base is 14 inches wide and nearly 2 feet long. Trying to find out when it was made...

Could someone ballpark this for me? Taiwan drill press

Not sure if I'm posting this correctly, but I'm also looking for info on a drill press. I believe it's made in Taiwan, but I could be wrong. It's a 10-inch Rexon model, made in 1991. I'd never heard of Rexon until now, though I've scoured GJ and saw another poster say that Rexon has made tools...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Well, went out and bought my first old vise today. A big thanks to Garage Journal for helping me open my eyes! It's a Rock Island 141 model. Looks like it came with pipe jaws, but those didn't make the transaction. Likely lost to time, but will ask the former owner if he can dig them up...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Off to take a look at two vises today. The first one could be a Parker, Reed or Rock Island or something else. Hard to tell from the one photograph. And it looks like a lot of work..... Photo attached of the first one. The second one looks like an Olympia. If so, I think I'll steer clear as...

Show us your cool, "old" drill press

Because of this forum, I'm now in the market for my first old drill press. Yeah, I know.. when the zombie invasion hits, I'll line up for that as well..... but it won't be as cool as restoring/owning an old drill press. Anyway, a couple of questions, since this forum is filled with fellows...

let's see your craftsman block grinders

It is indeed a 3/4 HP. Along with the main label, there's a white sticker near the back with a phone number for help in Toronto, along with the matching model number. I live out West, so it's travelled a ways. And kudos to this site! I also saw on eBay a Craftsman bench grinder from 1949...

let's see your craftsman block grinders

New member, here. Was in the market for a second grinder, and, after scouring the web and reading all the positive reviews of the Craftsman block grinders here, I purchased one for $60! Thanks much to this forum's posters! It's in pretty good shape, but I'd like to figure out what year it was...
