Yeah, I was referring to converting a battery powered unit to corded with inverters and such so I wouldn't have to worry about replacing expensive batteries.
The way I have the lift positioned, I think it would cause a really imbalanced load. I briefly looked into it, but it did no seem like a viable option.
What if instead of making a sled like that and trying to figure out how to level the load and fit the head room and all of that... You make...
That's fair. I am sure the power and converter requirements would make it not worth it, and then I'd have an extension cord trailing the unit that could easily get run over.
Good point, I'd use it maybe, monthly. That place was busy like a bees nest of lifts moving constantly.
Great tips...
Ok, wow. So a literal forklift! Those are a bit cheaper than I was expecting, which is good! I really like that little guy especially the price. Not quite as refined as a built-in flushed elevator, but way more lifting capacity and versatility!
Hmm, fair enough. I was leaning towards electric...
Hmm, I saw they had a few different series with different loads. I think they had one with a 1,000lb capacity but like you said bulky items that capacity still lowers fast.
Maybe I’m thinking about the wrong kind of thing. Could you share a link of a used forklift that you’re thinking of?
What part of PA are you in? I am in PA too! York county.
WOW, that is insanely heavy! That's CNC mill territory! I think something that heavy duty is way outside of my woodworking scope! At least if I am putting my carpentry stuff upstairs! Pretty sure I would need way more than 2x10s to...
The slab and shell have been completed. I am waiting for the garage doors to get installed now before I start anything inside, but I have given decent though to what I plan to do. I do still need to run it by an engineer to make sure that my assumed spans are kosher, but I was planning to do...
Unfortunately, since the structure is up and I gave them the last payment, they don't even respond to my queries about spray foam insulation voiding the warranty or not... I will say, our property is on the top of a hill and it is incredibly windy very regularly. I'd steer away from trying to...
Wow, I didn't expect this much response so quickly! Thanks guys. I will try to respond in order below
Haha, if I didn't have to turn the stairs to maintain headroom that would work! It's a steel structure and when I was designing it to have a lofted area, I didnt realize that there would be...
Haha, if I didn't have to turn the stairs to maintain headroom that would work! It's a steel structure and when I was designing it to have a lofted area, I didnt realize that there would be kickers making the head room only 4'6" at the walls.
I am working on the plans of my 50x30 garage and am really thinking of putting the woodworking area on the second floor. I am planning on installing one of those unistrut elevators to supply materials and equipment up and finished products down. I am thinking an 8'-2"x3' to allow sheet goods to...
I think your issues trump mine quite a bit! Wish I would have found this forum/your thread before I ordered my garage. I would have done things a bit differently, and maybe have braced myself for the headaches that seem to be normal these days. I am in south central PA. I think technically...
Wow I just found this thread and finally caught up! The issues that you’ve run into on your garage make the issues I’ve had trying to gut/renovate our new house and get a garage built seem trivial! Not that I’d wish it on anyone but I’m kind of glad I’m not alone in suffering on the Covid...
Gotcha, fair enough. I didnt know if there was a performance increase that I wasn't grasping or something.
Hmm, I like the hat channel idea... if I can spray foam the cavity for a decent price, that may be my best bet instead of wasting time framing out walls.
