    Attached are some pictures of the vise. The stamping on the slide did not photograph very well but it is either a 1 or 4 -945 with the a GF40 on the sliding mount.

    Thanks for the information, it appears my vise is dated April 1945. Just bolted it up to the bench and it is ready for another 70 years of service.

    MY understanding is that Wilton stamp date was five (5) years into the future in reference to expiration date for five (5) year warranty.

    I recently purchased a vintage Wilton 835 Vise. The date is stamped 4 or A then -945. There is no GUAR EXP making, nor is there and pat. pending nor patent numbers cast into vise. In the base is cast GF40. Could this vise be made in September 1940 before patent was even applied for?
