Ideas to turn a Skilsaw into a (fast) cold saw?

Thanks! I shy away from battery powered tools. I bought a full set of Dewalt 18 volt tools when they first came out. I can cut maybe twice across a sheet of plywood and the battery doesn't have enough oomph for the third. The sawsall just doesn't have the power of a corded one and runs out of...

Ideas to turn a Skilsaw into a (fast) cold saw?

You do understand. While others may say, "I need to fabricate things and not make tools for the shop," I like to make tools for the shop! I do like to buy tools too. It's about an extremely limited budget.

Ideas to turn a Skilsaw into a (fast) cold saw?

Thanks! I'm not sure about using the fixture plate as opposed to having a saw that had angle settings (even compound, swivel and tilt; even slide). If you have a long piece of 1-1/2" or 2" steel tubing and want a 45 degree angle, would the steel fit on the fixture plate close enough for the saw...

Ideas to turn a Skilsaw into a (fast) cold saw?

Oh, you're right. I now remember years ago going to a number of stores looking for one I could drop off a two story roof and it would still work, but I couldn't find them anymore.

Ideas to turn a Skilsaw into a (fast) cold saw?

Thanks, SDS! That guy is fuuu-ny! I got most of it and was thinking when he got to the "variactor with angry pixies" and the "osmelloscope" that it was going to be beyond me. What was beyond me, and I need to know, is what 'chicken steak' and 'tickling Jews' means in, "...oh maybe I should turn...

Ideas to turn a Skilsaw into a (fast) cold saw?

Howdy, I feel the need to cut far more metal than in the past, and quick. I have an old chopsaw with an abrasive blade, and I have an HF horizontal bandsaw I got years ago but am just going to set up now. But now I've watched this video and think the bandsaw and abrasive saw will never be too...

How do you post a full-size image?

Ok, let's try this... [/IMG] Does that work? Yes! I created a photobucket account and used their URL to link by clicking on Insert Image. Bingo! -- Dunn

How do you post a full-size image?

I think I read somewhere that you must upload the image first and then link it. I used the Manage Attachments button to upload it, but no luck. Does anyone know how to upload images so they're seen full-sized in the posts? Thanks, -- Dunn There's a max size in the upload box, so maybe the...

How do you post a full-size image?

I would like this image to be 800 x 600 in the post. It hasn't worked yet! Did that work? Nooooo! How can we post full-sized images? -- Dunn

Got it figured out? I'm trying to figure out how people post full-sized pictures in the posts.

Messyest garage cleanup / rehab - Indy

Thank you for this thread. After spending some time hanging out and reading threads, I was starting to think again that I was in the wrong place with a regular garage and not a giant building. Plus, if you think yours started out messy, at least there's someone here I can outdo on something...

    removal of wood dust

I have just a three car garage. Yet I have seen millwork shops with about twice that space and eight employees. Some of the garages on these forums have one person and are giganticenormous. I think people could better help you if you stated a shop size and number / types of machines working...

    Storing Lumber

Here's something to think about which I never see in any shop articles, magazine or web, on storing hardwood... Any warehouse store or lumberyard will have hardwood stored standing on end leaning on the wall with just post dividers between types. Every cabinet shop I've worked in has done the...
