Any tips on securing 8' fixtures to the ceiling

Some of the high output lights require that they be suspended to disipate heat--they should not be mounted directly to the ceiling. I used two eyebolts on each of my lights with matching screw hooks on the ceiling. Suspends them just enough for some air space and easy to remove for repair or...

    Drywall experts (or not) help

Dry Wall After my wife and I hung all the drywall in my 30 X 40 X 13 high garage addition, I managed to tape, mud, and sand all the walls, but I realized that I'd never get the ceiling done. I too called in the pros to finish. Also went the texture route with semi-gloss paint--two guys finished...

    GT40/Cobra

Wanted to reply to some of the comments from the Camaro thread, but didn't want to continue hijacking the thread. bmwpower: I agree that it probably isn't achievable in today's collector car market. Prices are just too strong at present. I didn't buy any of my cars to make a profit. My...

Someone want to lend me $1.5M?

How to acquire them? Start early, work like hell, and do some creative financing. (Helps to have an understanding wife who likes cars too) I bought my first Cobra (427 S/C) in 1975 for $14K. To put things in perspective, this was still about twice the price of a new Corvette at the time, but...

Someone want to lend me $1.5M?

Thanks for the kind words. It's a great car, but doesn't get used as much as I'd like. I've been a big fan for years. Oh well, retirement's coming. I traded a 427 S/C Cobra toward it in '85, and finally managed to replace it--but that's another story...

Someone want to lend me $1.5M?

One of two 'light weight" small block GT40's built by Alan Mann. Originally built with all aluminum bodywork. Raced at Sebring in '66 driven by Jackie Stewart and Graham Hill (raced in the Prototype class due to the alloy body). After Sebring sold to Paul Hawkins who replaced the alloy with...

    lift time

I have a friend who owns a body shop/towing service. I had my lift delivered to him at his shop. He backed his roll-back up to the trailer and winched it on. We then took the roll- back to my garage, backed it into place, tilted the bed and slid it off.
