What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Got the new mower so now I can re-commence moving **** around again now that I see how it fits. Think I'm happy with my cabinet layout on the right side so I can focus on the left soon. I don't know if I wasted my time and back but I lifted one of them onto some old wood I cut into planks so it...

    Icon Tools

I have all their ratchets and they've worked well although I'm not in a professional setting, purely backyard mechanic and DIYer ****. The warranty is what sold them to me - if it ever breaks, I can get a new one, similar to the old Craftsman business model. Just posted in another thread but if...

Thoughts on a new socket set

Gearwrench ratchets were among the best tested when Project Farm played around with them. They also have a lifetime warranty or did. I'm content with my Icon HF ones for now but will definitely switch over to GW if the Icons ever go although Icon's lifetime warranty can just get me new ones I...

    Hornet/ Wasp Problem..

If they're in holes, dump your choice of gas or oil down there. Contrary to what some think, adding flames is not required, the fumes/liquid will be enough to kill them. If they're in the fascia/between the gutters/whatever nook that's elevated, use that Sevin dust they sell in garden centers...

    Shovel, rakes, implements of destruction...

I bought a resin shed and put it behind the garage to get most of these things out of the garage like shovels, rakes, anything really long and awkward to keep in the place. If the garage was bigger, I'd prefer to keep them in it but I don't like the clutter. The rafters were an option but for me...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Cleared out the back side corner of the garage that will (hopefully) be home to a new mower soon. Very limited on space in this at the moment as new baseboards are still inside as I never finished a couple (unused) rooms in the house that I started in the fall so I'll probably force myself to...

How are you all hanging or storing garden tools?

A resin outdoor shed with a barrel inside with all of them in it.

Buying a new U.S. General Series 3 or Icon from Harbor Freight vs. a used Snap-On or Matco toolbox

Yeah, I didn't mention it but they're are plenty of hacks for getting rid of those locks so you're able to freely move a drawer out whenever you want if you desire. Youtube has plenty of videos on ways to do it or search through one of the many HF groups on Facebook.

Buying a new U.S. General Series 3 or Icon from Harbor Freight vs. a used Snap-On or Matco toolbox

Can't comment on Snap-On or Matco as I'm just a weekend DIYer/backyard mechanic and for most of my life I never was even near a tool chest as my family had carpenters who just made their own cabinets and chests for their tool storage so they never bothered with metal ones. For myself I've went...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I haven't really been in there lately as this winter, while not super snowy, has still been **** due to the cold. I was in there yesterday digging out some gas cans since I was an idiot after work and opted not to get gas on the way home (long story but ran into a 20 minute traffic delay thanks...

    Amazon Homes?

I think roof costs are one of those regional things. Especially if it's metal one. Ours (1300sqft) just got a new metal one, with new gutters, downspouts, soffit, etc and it was 25k. To be fair, we had the roof extended over our small patio so I'm sure that was an extra 4-5k right there but all...

Buying a new U.S. General Series 3 or Icon from Harbor Freight vs. a used Snap-On or Matco toolbox

I'd go with the Icon. I'm in a similar situation or rather will be in it sooner than later with my tool storage and I've heard nothing but good things about it. Not that it matters much but my cousin owns his own shop and uses them over Snap-On. I'm more than likely getting it over the USG...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

How are the old red Craftsman vises from the 70s/80s/90s? It's still in storage but we came across an old red Craftsman vise that my grandfather had. I put those date ranges in there because I honestly don't know what era it's from, probably closer to the 80s and up but my grandfather had a lot...

Any Long Lasting garage door openers?

I don't think you can go wrong with a Genie or Liftmaster. I prefer Liftmaster because (at least, taking into account the two homes I've jumped between that had each brand respectively) I feel like they are quieter and slightly faster than the Genie openers. Could just be the particular models...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I've had a new torpedo heater for awhile now and this morning it was cold so I thought I'd give it a run for the first time in the garage while I swept the floor and cleaned the rafters. It definitely didn't have any problems warming up the garage quick, think I'm gonna love using that thing...
