    temp. wiring up standy generator

The generator is propane. Unless I wired in an outlet by/ in the garage to utilize I would set the generator as close to the power in to the house as possible, which is also within 20’ of the propane tank. The whole purpose of “temporary” is if a storm comes through and knocks out power again...

    temp. wiring up standy generator

Thank you for supplying the picture of the inlet receptacle, that’s the style I was trying to refer to but not the most tech savy to post a pic on my phone. I’ve seen some of the interlock and definitely not expensive and well worth the added safety. Luckily, or not, I’m almost never away from...

    temp. wiring up standy generator

I’m well aware of what a suicide cord is, my confusion is how is me setting it up myself Vs just buying a factory made one any different? The cords ive seen are the twist lock at the house and plug in for the generator. My understanding is flip all breakers off, including main. Plug the...

    temp. wiring up standy generator

I've heard of suicide cord before, care to explain how they can offer a factory build cord to accomplish the same thing and be ok??? Current fuse panel is 150 amp SQ style breaker, can't remember which style off hand, I plan to update the panel to a new panel with a 200 amp main. The generator...

    temp. wiring up standy generator

I picked up a used 13Kw generac guardian, after we've had some heavy storms and alot of power outages. End plan is to properly have it installed with an automatic transfer switch, but for temporary use whats everyones' thoughts on wiring up a 50A outlet on the output of the gen. housing and run...

    cutting I beam flange narrow

They can still be used as I bought them, cutting the flanges would just have more space for the Ben subframe. Even factoring the cost of the used beams and what I spent on the plasma I’m still money ahead vs buying the new narrower beams.

    cutting I beam flange narrow

Started laying out the spring hangers on one beam. Decided tonight to weld the angle of the neck, I still plan to plate over the vertical weld.

    cutting I beam flange narrow

As best as I can figure the beams are w12x26, the measurement charts are close to what they measure but not quite there. I have the beams, the axles and start of the bed. I’m undecided on what height to make the walls and still figuring out the hoist mechanism. For the side walls I’m waiting to...

    cutting I beam flange narrow

Probably wouldn’t save me that much weight to be worth it, it’s gonna have 10k axles. The one area it might be helpful is between the beams where the bed will sit. Should fit as is but little more clearance is always good.

    cutting I beam flange narrow

I admit I’ve done no calculations for beam sizes needed. But I have looked at many of the big manufacturers for the sizes they use. Their trailers of similar size use w12x16-22 beams. While yes, cutting my beams down would decrease their original strength, they would still be every much as...

    cutting I beam flange narrow

30’ of W12x19 was $851 pre tax, 54’ of the beams I got was $261. The plasma is maybe $300.

    cutting I beam flange narrow

I'm working on building a 5th wheel hitch dump trailer. Instead of buying the dimension beam most trailers use I picked up some beams from the scrap yard for alot less than new prices. Is there any reason I couldn't cut the flanges down to make the beam more narrow? Currently its a W12x30 I...

    Basement in "garage"

From the perimeter that I have dug around for a parling pad next to the garage it seems like its just a slab. A very thick slab but just a slab. There are a couple holes drilled in the floor, and they appear to be 6" or so of concrete but I haven't checked with a light and hook. I still need...

    Basement in "garage"

Don’t really have the option to build out because of the interior layout. It may be 24x24 but I’m planning on a large walk in closet. My current gun room is 12x12, I think, with a corner work bench, toolbox and a couple safes. It holds all my guns, reloading, gun smithing and hunting stuff.

    Basement in "garage"

Hopefully would be short term, how ever long that ends up being. A pole barn is definitely on the list so I have shop space that I can fit my trucks in. Right now just trying to plan living space to get a room for everyone
