Keep at it. I heard that the intended use was to add another item to your shirt pocket to impress your co-workers. And, of course none of your co-workers would be able to say what it does.

Wondering if you response is a joke? Other reply said they are a magnet when sold, but lose their magnetism over time. That make a lot of sense to me. Ed Taublieb

The name Craftsman is the only thing stamped on this pencil like steel "tool?" Steel, plated, 6'' long and 1/2" diameter. It does not have a magnet. It has a shirt pocket clip. About 2" of the length has knurling.
