    Burying Downspouts

I've buried several. All with corrugated. One is only the length of the flower bed it goes under, the second is about 10', another is about 20' to the end of a fence, and the last is around 75'. It has a clean out, and a couple of "t" connections for multiple downspouts. The shorter ones are...

    Service Station style air pump

I've been re-plumbing the compressor in my little shop/garage. For years, I've wanted some sort of "service station" style air fill station just outside of the garage door. Something I can use on the cars, bikes, etc... just like the old gas stations had. Problem is, vintage air stations are...

chair or seat ideas for garage/workshop beer drinking/admiring?

For several years, I had the back seat out of my Jeep CJ up on 2x4s and castors for a garage "couch". Finally sold the seat, though. Worked pretty well.

    Garbage/Recycle Can storage ideas

I've got the same project on my honey-do list, though thankfully pretty far down. Plans are to either build or buy two of those storage units from Menards. One for trash cans and the second for parking kids toys (tricycle, wagon, soccer balls, etc...). Painted to match the house, they should...

    HF mover's dollies

I need to get a few more of these! Right now, two are being used as a mobile axle stand. I've used 4 of them as vehicle dollies to move the Jeep. Handy little buggers. I should keep at least 2 clean, though. Can't use them in the house after rolling through grease/oil in the shop.

    Question about welding and alternators

I assume the alt. is unplugged? As long as you aren't grounding through the alternator, I wouldn't worry about it. Especially for just tacking in place.

    Austin's one Jeep Garage

"If any interest"? Surely you jest! Jeeps, guns, and bikes. Not bad!

    Keeping baby out of garage?

Our 2-year-old knows to stop at the door to the attached garage and wait. We routinely leave it open while running in and out to the cars, and she just stands there and babbles away. Took a bit of "training", but she knows to stop and wait. We do still keep the dead-bolt locked (she can't turn...

    scrap metal storage tips

I have a 10-gallon Rubbermaid tote for smaller pieces of steel. I have some longer scraps that I need to find a better way to store. I hate piling them on a shelf. Maybe I need to build a little rack?

    Shop-Vac Setup

Ah.... I misunderstood! How about just directing the exhaust up? Find a 45* or 90* PVC elbow that fits the exhaust port. They also make mufflers/diffusers for vacs: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00916993000P?sid=IDx01192011x000001&srccode=cii_17588969&cpncode=22-194747268-2

Thought I was having a problem with my HF compressor, turns out it was the circuit

I'm guessing the thinner-gauge wire on that 15A circuit simply could pass enough current at start up? The extension cord noted by VictoryMike18 sounds the same. I've had tons of tools run "slower" on long cord runs. I've even gotten some cords pretty hot, and never tripped a breaker.

    Machanical fan

Read up on viscous fan clutches: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fan_clutch Basically, the clutch is filled with a liquid. At cooler temps, the liquid is less viscous and will let the fan spin more freely (turns slower than the engine). At higher temps, the viscosity increases, causing the fan to...

    Garage Door Opener "Limits"

I wouldn't sweat it. The opener can be adjusted to open the door clear of the opening. The "door arm" in the illustration will be ABOVE the door's opening in the up position. It stays ABOVE the top of the opening until the door hits the curved section of track. If your jeep clears the opening...

    Shop-Vac Setup

I've got a wall-mount vac, though not the one posted above. Hung it in a convenience spot, and left it plugged in. With an extra length of hose, I can reach everywhere in the garage, and even a car parked just outside. If I keep the filter clean, the exhaust isn't dusty. I've got a rolling...

    Lumber storage

I put a "double" loft in my shed for wood storage. 2x4's nailed across the width of the shed every 24". 8' wide by 8' deep. The "top" loft has a plywood floor, and my boards (2x4s, 1-bys, ets...) are stacked to one side (assorted other items on the other side). The "bottom" loft is a foot below...
