yes it will be an issue... The carport was build about 20 years ago originally... So I've been dealing with the flat roof for 10 years i've lived here. granted now its 13ft in the air vs 8ft... so a bit more fun... but in the past ten years I've only had to clear it of snow once or twice...
If...
Ok we did some math... Yeah, solid panels are a no go. Have a bracing plan. And he liked the idea of louvers for that top section over the solid panel. Damn this is gonna be some work though.
I think I'm going to bring a structural engineer in on this. Ya'll have me a bit worried now that I'm missing something and not worth losing two years of work building this out
Looks like 90mph. Which is not insignificant. 2200lb across 8 poles, as long as it's braced well to transfer all the weight evenly.
Though a direct 90* square wind gust on the broad side would be tough to do with the terrain... Gotta prep for it
The lift is a DX-9000XLT. So in the photo there is 6' 10" of clearance under the deck. Pad is 10' 5" wide. Wider would be nice. But I was limited on how wide I could go. It may just look narrow because it's soon frocking tall 🤣
Primary car that will be parked is a second gen Camaro so with...
car cover doesn't protect the lift though... I COULD still run the metal sides vertically... but it will make it more difficult to block for vs horizontal runs across the posts
The post bases are Simpson MPBZ 4x4 buried in 24" of strongly reinforced concrete... it is standing strong with just the roof... but that will not save it from the wind load. No overhang is unfortunatle... as is the 2" per 10ft slope of the roof... going to make a gap at the top to deal...
Yeah... making this post is the first time I'm visualizing it with the sides... Hopefully it looks better IRL. But I may have to do something to work on aesthetics a bit
I'm not sure what happened to my old account, so pardon the low post count have to figure out what happened there.
So I've been building away without supervision the past three years. and my carport project is coming together nicely. I'm onto the last steps of wrapping the top 6ft with...
