If you're getting close to completing your program I would start contacting businesses and sending out resumes. I did a similar program a couple of years ago and I was able to get a job before I finished, most of my classmates were hired at their practicums or found work right away.

Thanks guys, I measured from 2x4 stud to 2x4 stud. Good call on how plumb it is, the stud closest to the overhead door is out more than 1/2". Hip roof so no gable, door and window are both on the same 22 ft wall.

Thanks for the replies. I did a bunch of reading and it looks like those rafter ties are just there to stop the walls from bowing out. I'll have to put in 2x6 ceiling joists in to hold up the ceiling and insulation, I'll put in some more collar ties as well. It's only a 12x22 so I don't think...
