So I broke My 2nd Matco Ratchet...

It has happened with light usage. My main problem was with the Matco dealer, he didn't want to warranty after the second time, I had to send it in and get a replacement. Now the ratchet sits at home and my great Snap-On is at work.

Recommend a Quality Set Punches & Chisels

I use Cornwell. They seem to last a long time, they resist mushrooming pretty well. No matter what you use the small punches will eventually bend. Cornwell replaces with no problems. C-mans ****, they bend or chip easily.

So I broke My 2nd Matco Ratchet...

You should use a larger size ratchet if possible. With that said, Matco (craftsman) ratchets are weak and will break, without much force. My Matco 1/2 inch stripped a few times and would flip the reverse lever on its own. Buy Snap-on ratchets.

    Impact Driver Question

I have had both. I personally like the Lisle better. Both are durable and will last a long time. If I need 1/2 inch I just throw on an adapter.

You better snap UP this ratchet.

You can get the same ratchet labeled champion at sears for 9.00. A lot of local tools supply stores around my area sell that ratchet with different labels, all for around 10.00

    Customer Service... Value added?

I have to agree but, our Matco guy doesn't live up to the normal Matco standard. At times when you get a price quote and ask him to order the item, when it comes in the next week the price is sometimes higher. I still buy from him, but only if he has the tool on hand. Don't like unexpected...

    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

I have tried a lot of HF tools and here are my finds. 1/2 impact sockets - Pass used everyday 3/4 impact sockets - Pass used almost everyday Black handle prybar set - Pass for light usage, they flex and are not strong enough for real heavy work. Digital Caliper - Pass Wood handle hammers (all)...

    What an Idiot

I have both the craftsman and the IR2135, and there is no comparison. The IR is great and I keep it at work. The craftsman is a decent gun for at home to rotate tires, etc. but I also got it for the club price 89.99

    Finding Tools

If I find a tool at work, it goes to the supervisors counter for the owner to claim. I would hope others would do the same for me. If the tool is found on the side of the road, a junk yard, a park or any other place where there is no chance of finding the owner then it is finders keepers.

    Re-Marking tools.

I have used liquid white-out pens to do this before. Just mark the tool in the lettering and then use a shop rag to wipe of the excess and let it dry.

How many ratchets have you broken/longest you've owned a ratchet you use

I have broken many ratchets from time to time. Older craftsman seem tough compared to their newer junk. But I love my Snap-on ratchets--feel and strength. I am still using my dads snap-ons that are more than 30 years old. The worst ratchet for the money is matco, in my opinion. I have a...
