But, in order to have to only do this once and utilize the whole circuit: Could I run a 30 amp circuit but use a 6-30p to 6-20r adapter plug for my machines that are wired with a 6-15p cord?

I have a really old 1/3 HP Dayton electric motor with a starter that is surplus to my needs. It has the covered ports for oiling the bearings (I assume).
It has been rewired recently.

It looks very similar to the swivel on my 2 ton floor jack. Except of course this piece has 2 u-joint connections whereas the release shaft swivel on my floor jack only has 1. I didn't measure them but they are pretty close in size.
