    Britool (Made in England) thread

Hi, I came across a couple of additional Britool catalogues on eBay recently, so have added the covers to the list I keep and have posted them below for info. The 1960 one is ring-bound, which I've not seen before, not sure of the catalogue number for that one (maybe 102, based on the date)...

I haven't been active on this forum for a bit, but am still enjoying using my Britool tools most weekends. Haven't bought any new items recently, I am happy with my general toolset. I do keep an eye out for old Britool catalogues, I own five of them, and screengrab the photos of catalogues...

Welcome Rangie, looking forward to your photos! Are you a connoisseur of Range Rovers btw? Always a need to have spanners on hand for a Rangie, so why not have a fine collection of Britool for such occasions? Cheers, fanders

Lovely Britool 'Combination Universal Service Kit' set no. 446 on UK eBay at the moment, although the £3,000 buy it now price looks healthily ambitious. Details of set 446 from Catalogue 104: And the set itself, 275 lbs going off the weight in the catalogue:

Catalogue 93 (1935) I don't have Catalogue 35, it was for sale on eBay and went for more than I would pay, but I always try to grab the seller's images for this thread when I see a catalogue for sale. These are the seller's images: For what it's worth, these are the five Britool...

Thanks for that info humber2, I’ll add that to the post above. I have a James Neill catalogue from I think the late 1980s which I’ll add too, I think they stopped doing individual Britool catalogues around that time and just issued one big one with all the James Neill Group tools in...

War finish Here's an example of a Britool double box end spanner in unplated 'war finish', and stamped as such: A bit rougher finished than the regular fare of that period, but there was a war on! Regards, fanders

Yep, mine are my ‘go to’ spanners unless I need my SAE Snap On offset angle wrenches, which are lovely to use - just can’t justify the £130 cost of a metric set of those. Love the feel and design of the old Britool tools. fanders

@melle, I have Catalogue 96 scanned in as a PDF (20Mb), but not the others yet, which are a longer term project. I can send you a drop box link if you PM me your email address, I'm not sure of how to provide a dropbox link in a forum post? fanders

Britool catalogues #this is an (updated) repeat of post 189 on this thread, just bumping here# I'm hoping to put together some information here on Britool catalogues, they are a great resource for Britool information. I personally have catalogues 96, 104 and 109 and am in the process of...

    Is garage lust dead?

It's interesting to read here that 'garage lust' might be a generational thing. You hear a lot about mental health problems with young people, anxiety etc. For me, time in the workshop or garage is very calming, I can truly relax and lose myself in a project or shop upgrade (but it helps to...
