When I was searching for a box (ended up with the earlier gen. HF one) I looked at Lowes, HD, Sears and HF. Some of the boxes at Lowes and HD were actually identical to the cheaper HF black ones. Sears was **** at the same price point. Perhaps the boxes at your Lowe's were old stock Sears...

Noticed some craftsman boxes online at Lowes. I'm not in the market but it does seem they would be competitive with HF boxes now. Ball bearing, double wall 18/20 gauge steel (strange but okay) made in USA with global materials. Price points on par with HF. Hey, I say good for them...

HF is stepping in to fill the void that craftsman left open now. Their pricing is fine. Competitive. Perhaps they realized it's more profitable to sell a product that will last somebody a few years rather than a few months and have to warranty it out over and over. I think they're doing...

Depends on your needs. If it's rare, go with the HF unit it's totally fine and works. If you need to use it once a week or more, then pony up and buy a new quality unit. As for that particular one I wouldn't pay more than 75.

Milwaukee makes needle nose vice grips, I own them. Not too bad, not too great. I'm confused as to why you'd opt for pliers/vice grips to take out a nut though instead of a socket Edit :. Ahhhhhh I get it. ******* design isn't it? The bolt should be slotted for a little flathead to hold it...

Haha what a *******. And the compare at pricing I've seen refers to a similar tool for the same job from another brand. For example - floor jacks. They'll compare theirs to snap on. Sure, polar opposite in quality generally speaking, but similar tool for same job. No harm done in my opinion.

I restore cars. The absolute best method I've found (and I've used kroil, wax, PB, WD, etc) heat with a propane torch for a minute, then ice down, tighten the fastener a little by hand, then loosen. This might take 2-3 applications but it works every time for me, and what's also great is it...

Sounds funny, but reminds me of snorkel goggles for swimming - trick to keep them from fogging up,. Hawk a big spit into them and smear it around the whole lense, then wipe it out with a rag or rinse it.
