I'm torn on this issue.
My parents were Depression era kids. Things being rationed, not a lot of money to spend, they had to be thrifty to survive.
Mom used the wax paper bags out of cereal boxes to put between layers of cookies when she sent them out. Asking her why she said "I already paid...
A question or 2 if I may: I have a 70s Dayton 2Z461 (read Poulan 361). The instructions from the manual for fuel mix is 1/2 pint SAE30 oil into a gallon of "regular" gasoline.
It didn't run well for a long time, until a friend straightened it out for me recently. Will one of the new pre-made 2...
If you can do it now, DO IT NOW!!!
I built mine at the same time. From beginning to end the plan changed, and I had to put somethings off, but I have a building with a concrete floor to put my stuff in. if you wait....it may get never come to fruition
I would let it go.
I'm not always a 'patina' guy, but in this case I would make an exception.
I inherited a box of tools that one of my friends said had patina. I held them in my hands and got rust on my hands. I cleaned them up.
No, I didn't give a rip about collector value.
To the OP: it...
My Dad didn't have many tools. I have most of the ones he had now. To my surprise, I found two cardboard boxes of OLD tools, probably from my grandparents on his side that I had no idea were there.
I also found a brand new grinder and vice (nothing fancy) That he bought, and hid in a potato...
I remember the feed mill where we bought chicken feed had at least 5 or 6 of those style (at least) hand trucks for moving feed sacks around and out to the dock to load on our truck. The place burned down about 10 years ago, while still in operation so I assume they are all gone now.
Oh well...
I bought a Scott IIa for one hundred dollars that was an industrial plant turn in. 30 years ago. It was rarely if ever used. My FD paid for the upgrade from demand to demand/pressure demand. I still have it, Can't use it in FF setting though.
If you have the time and inclination, scan them and post for posterity. I've been the beneficiary of a generous soul who posted a manual for an old sander I found. I am quite appreciative of that
I checked-I sent my father in law's 12 days ago. Replacement came yesterday. Boxed the old one up, called for pickup. Gone just after noon on the 11th.
Thanks to all for passing on the information!
He has 3 other extinguishers (non-Kidde) that need some attention, possible replacement...start...
The township (a form of Government in PA and some other states) in which I reside has a zoning ordinance. We built a house in 2015, and my wife was very supportive of also building a detached garage for my stuff.
We finally settled on a pole building that we could afford and basically covers...
I only used Lennox blades in our Rescue's recip saw. Before we could afford a hydraulic rescue tool (i.e. Jaws of Life), we used hand tools to start vehicle extrication ops until our mutual aid company could arrive. We could take a vehicle roof quite well.
I hope their quality hasn't diminished...
