Modifications to the HF 4 and 5 drawer service carts - what changes have you made?

I found this thread by accident, but I thought I would add my new cart. I am setting up some tools in my shop which I have decided to not move my big Snap-On box into from my garage as it could be a week or longer where I don't go into the shop and it's pretty hidden from my house. The shop is...

Do you carry a pocket knife?

Having an EDC knife is just an essential "man-thing" in my opinion. My EDC is a tiny Case Texas Toothpick with a 3" blade. I am not a big fan of a huge pocket knife and it is used as a tool all the time. I am a Vocational Teacher and use it all the time in the shop. My students know and know...

Not sure what way it stopped working, but there is an old trick of turning old fridges upside down to get them cooling properly again. Is it an all out electrical shut down, or just a cooling problem? If it's the later, flip her on her head and let it sit overnight!

Start to Finish Home Body and Paint Thread.

Thanks... I wish she still looked that good! The conversion is pretty straight forward, there is a little cutting on the grille shell that has to be done to clear the steering box and the narrower frame at the grille. Plus the mound needs to be moved, but not hard at all. A 1" body lift may...

Start to Finish Home Body and Paint Thread.

Can anyone play?? My Jeep that suffered from the "Ugly headlight syndrome" and needed to get back to her roots. I paid $1000 for her back about 2003 and still have her today (granted... her age is showing!) So we add some real Jeep CJ parts to fix that! With little bracing, CJ hoods...

    Need some Machining help

Uh yea, you beat me to it... that is a whole world of ugly trying to "fix" that spot by welding alone. That is solid cast to the head... what is the plan to remove what is left, a grinder? Then weld a block onto the head and "hope" the hole stays true to a o-ring fit? IMHO, it will never work...

    110' x 26' Forclosure

That overhang needs some sort of old school lamp hanging from it to light the area around the garage door. Maybe some other type of eve treatment, but it needs something to make it really stand out and flow with the building and area. It's really looking great though!

Love that Blackbird! That plane was just sick sitting still! Did you know it leaked fuel so bad on the tarmac that it had to be refueled after just 15 minutes in flight? The tanker also had to be at full speed, and the Blackbird throttled back about as slow is it could still fly in order to...

To expand on the motor's a little bit, it was also very common to have just one motor that was used on many tools. This is kind of a throw back to the days of gas motors to run washing machines and the use of things like hit or miss engines. It was very common to have the one power source to...

Hey.... now quit picking on the little 109 lathes, they are cute! Here is my little lathe, before & after shots of course. The sad part, is even though the one I have is a bit better than the newer one you show, they, in fact, did make even WORSE ones towards the late 50's and into the...

Goodyear Auto Service Center LIED to me about changing my Brake Fluid!!!!

While I realize that you can not base one or two shops in a national chain and say they are all bad... but here is what I went through with a local Goodyear dealer in my area. My company car needed an alignment and although I use an independent shop for all my service, I had them also check the...

OH man, Dave... that engine turning would of looked awesome in your shop too! You are kind of stuck at this point, because it needs to be done while the metal is flat, and then bent. I have done it in the past, and if you made a jig that would index the metal stock on, say a strip of wood...

Thanks Dave! Do you remember which location you sent it to? I am sure it will get here either way, we are in the new house now and will change the mail tomorrow. However, even if it went to the old house, we will still be moving stuff for a little while. It's going to be hard to not have a...
