    Cordless impact recommendation needed

I use the Dewalt DC825 for deck screws, it works great. I already had a Dewalt 18V drill and wanted to stick with one kind of battery, so bought the bare impact on ebay for $60 (brand new). I just checked and there are still plenty for sale.

Should I get an add on clamp for my old fluke 88 or buy new Fluke 381?

Those add on clamps will work fine with your meter, you just set your meter to mA/mV depending on the clamp and convert the displayed value to amps (say, 1 mV = 1 amp). My Fluke 87 came with a i400 clamp (AC only) and it is incredibly useful for doing electrical and appliance repair around the...

Need Help with finding a part.

The broken part is called a trunnion, to help your search. Many Taiwan/China saws share the same dimensions as the Delta and replacements are available on ebay and elsewhere. For example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Delta-14-bandsaw-rear-trunnion-426-02-0-950-0002-or-LBS-60/111019161635...

Who makes a HIGH QUALITY drill guide?

If you have a drill press, you can make a throw away jig by drilling a same size hole in a piece of scrap hardwood. On the plywood, use an awl to mark the hole and drill a tiny bit freehand to enlarge, then use the jig to keep it straight while you drill through.

Quick help -- Setting up Rolair compressor

I have an FC2002, the air outlet is on the back of the regulator, opposite the gauge. It won't hold pressure with nothing connected (a hose+tool, ball valve, or quick connect coupler). The owner's manual is on Rolair's website, btw...

    Which pocket flashlight?

Huh, I bought a Mag 2aa Pro (SP2P01H) last year and has always been unusable due to flicker. I didn't know this was a common problem. I just sent them an email, hopefully they have a fix, it would be a good flashlight if it worked reliably. Haven't tried the Pro+.

Looking for quality Philips head screwdrivers 2,1,0.

Like the others, I recommend the ratcheting Snap On, but have a plain handle like you are talking about too (Craftsman #43373). You can find a made in the USA one on ebay for less than $10, the China ones supposedly have bad magnets. I like the Snap On ACR bits, they are $3 (free shipping) and...

Lighting for new shop - what about CFL's?

I agree with Gerald about lots of small bulbs. Have you considered LEDs? I recently replaced every bulb in my house with LEDs from Ikea and I really like them: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20266225/ The form factor and color rendition are almost identical to incandescent, no...

    Craftsman premium heavy-duty 40" top+bottom $699.98

Good grief. My part #'s start with 706 and I remember them weighing 260/140 as well. I bought them new this year, but I do not know if they are the same as the batch on sale now or not. This toolbox rabbit hole goes deep. Sorry for adding to the confusion!

    Craftsman premium heavy-duty 40" top+bottom $699.98

Hi macgee, here is a photo of the Craftsman sliders (top) next to a specimen from my kitchen cabinet project (bottom). The Craftsman slider is made by Repon (Taiwan) and is a standard 100 lb. side mounted slider, all the drawers are mounted similarly. There are two lengths used (the top box is...

My Craftsman rant to their customer service

Yeah, I think there is an incentive in place that is forcing employees everywhere to game the system by clearing orders before they are ready, leaving them with no way of tracking which orders have been fulfilled.
