The "Bunker" garage is almost complete!

That's a really sweet ride. Glad you're okay. As for the 'Bat Cave,' keep us posted. bb

The "Bunker" garage is almost complete!

Hey Utah, I hope you are alright from the crash. Hope nobody was hurt. I have an interior-design idea for your bunker garage. In the hallway/tunnel leading from the bookcase down to the lower level, line the walls (and maybe the ceiling) with rocks imbedded into the walls so it has the "feel" of...

Let the fun begin! The official toybox thread.

I think the best look would be painting all of the rails and stiles (floor cabs and wall cabs) black, and all of the insert panels a contrasting color, but the floor cabs matching the wall cabs. I really like the look of stainless, but it's a bear to keep clean. It would be like having chrome...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Restored 1930's Auto Shop

If you ever refurbish another air meter and can't find the felt washers, you can also pick up a set of self-adhesive ring reinforcements from any office supply store. They'll protect the porcelin finish and won't shift when installing the screws. bb

Aside from the cane idea, which I'd like to do myself, the only use for a long-handled small ball peen hammer would be for reaching into an enclosed space, such as a steel tank, where your reach would be limited to maybe getting only your arm into a very large tank, and hammering out dents from...

Hey Thomas, Did the old blacksmith walk with a cane? Ever since a botched spine surgery I had 4 years ago, I've had to walk with a cane. I could see the long-handled hammer making a pretty cool cane. Chromed, polished, rubber tip on the end... sure beats the generic geriatric version at...

My “Class Act” Trailer's Structural Integrity Failure

I believe that the dealer and the manufacturer both share liability for your losses. I would check to see what the dollar limits are in your area for a small-claims lawsuit, and file a suit against them both. If not, hire an attorney. I don't think they have much of a defense. Make sure you...

20 to 25 heat/dip cycles? Seems like an awful lot of time and work. Is there a quicker process? I have some micrometers and calipers that need work. Will a small propane torch work? bb

Hi Thomas, I owned a Standard Oil gas station in the '70's that had a Rotary drive-on lift like yours, and a twin-post, in-ground lift in my other bay. In the 90's, I owned a Ford dealership that had a number of in-ground twin-post lifts in the service department and body shop. I spent a lot of...

You're welcome! I guess I should have caught the 12" marking on the wrench.

This wrench caught my eye. As you know Mr.Johnson was a blacksmith. This 12" adjustable wrench is made by the "Diamond Calk Horseshoe Co., Duluth Minn." That's a new manufacturer for me. Maybe they're quite famous, but I've never heard of them. Some of the other tools have manufactures names on...
