What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Just a lazy day today. Replaced the brakes in the front. Replaced all of the lines hard and soft. Still waiting on my rear shoes and drums for the rear to come in. Got the fuel system hooked up. Only thing I'm waiting on is the carb spacer gaskets and I can mount the carb. Installed the intake...

Too early for a beer? What sort of blasphemy is this you speak of?

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Seems to work OK. I go through so much of it that I usually just buy the cheap stuff. This was something that my neighbor brought me after he borrowed a couple cans. I don't hate it. It work for this job anyway!

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Spent 4 hours fighting to get the distributor out of this 289. With how much this thing is worth, I couldn't just go all brute strength on it. I sprayed, heated, and lightly tapped then sprayed again. Nothing seemed to work. I really wanted to smack it with a BFH but cooler heads prevailed. I...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Home from work. Got the gas tank installed and plumbed. Pressurized the cooling system and couldn't make it above 5PSI. I pumped and it immediately dropped back to 5. I looked all over the place and couldn't figure out what was going on. My mind immediately went to the thought that the head...

They say to snap off the plunger on that kill solenoid and it works just fine.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Got busy getting stuff done on the K code Fairlane. I picked the ignition lock and the trunk lock since both keys were lost over time and replaced them with spares I had sitting around. It's good to have lock picking skills sometimes. I got the steering box... or what is left of it pulled and...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

He did know some but not all. His thoughts on the value of the parts was WAY low. He told me that he pulled the carb and put it in the house so it wouldn't get stolen. He said he did that when someone told him the carb was worth $500! He would have gone crazy if he knew it was 10x higher. Yet he...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

K code 1964 Fairlane. It has the HiPo 289 and top loader 4 speed. Every part of this is crazy expensive. The original carb alone if you can find one sells for $5k. (Part number C30F-AJ) The pulley on the generator is easily $800... for a pulley! The distributor sells for $1000. The engine will...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

So over the weekend I did a thing. I know it doesn't look like much but for those with a good eye... it is a real one! Short of a Thunderbolt this is the holy grail of 64 Fairlanes. Only one above this one is a Sports Coupe. While the Sports Coupe is more desirable this one is more rare. All...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Sounds like a lot of work. The cutting isn't so bad. It is the bending to pick it up that would kill me.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Pulled the mower into the garage to diagnose slow drive. Was worried that the non serviceable drive motors were going out. Found out it was a lot easier than that. The belt had stretched and the tensioner was at almost max travel. The tensioner was hitting the edge of the stamped hole for the...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I ran out of shelf space so I decided it was time to hang my hardware storage. Yes, I'll need a ladder to get in the top but there is a ladder there all the time anyway. Now to organize and label them. There is more than this too. I may get around to hanging them one day. I also made the...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Elbow felt good enough to climb a ladder and swap out the fluorescent lights for these LEDs. These are a lot brighter but a different color light. They will take some getting used to. Now back to cleaning up the garage and getting back to work.
