    Father/Son Garage Build

Great! Other than one small crack that appears in the winter near the window all is well. Thanks! We knew from the beginning that we wanted the area to be free from any obstructions, so this is all that we considered. There was a difference in cost, naturally, but I do not recall it being...

I am being told it was not covered because we planned on insulating the building from within, which we still are. I agree that it would not have hurt to use it anyways.

I am looking into why that was done. I do not have any photos showing it, but it was used on the north wall.

Not sure, exactly. It's the first time I've noticed that. We plan on insulating the inside of the garage, but that would have helped.

Time again for what is seemingly a yearly update. Here is the view from down the drive way with the brickwork done. Not certain if I ever shared a photo of the doors with the siding and lights finished, so here is this. In the late months of summer everything was ran for electricity, less...

We had a local guy do it. I was out of town when it was put down so I am not sure what materials were used. I'll try to find out for you. Getting things prepped to do the electrical work now. Need to get two of the vehicles mobile again in order to have some overhead work done.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. As for the truss design, it simply was not in the budget. We had also thought of a mezzanine, but that quickly added thousands of dollars to the project.

We have a few ideas regarding the upper area. The trusses are rated for ~700lb per, so we should be well with our bounds to use it for storage at a minimum. We did not want a flat roof and were trying to have it match the profile of the house.

Thanks! I am very happy with how it turned out. I hope it holds up over time.

Wow, I've been away for a while! Garage looks great, and the change from jetta to the .:R is one that I'm sure you love, too!

    Father/Son Garage Build

Haven't posted here in over a year now, and while I would like to say that a lot of progress has been made, I must admit that not a whole lot has. In June of '15 we got about 8" of rain in 24 hours and our basement flooded, so the past eight months have been spent rebuilding that instead of...

Yes, we live on the northeast side of Fort Wayne. The garage doors at front window came from Home Lumber. Menards had the same service door for around $150. Thank you! I'm working on putting together some signage for the walls! We were just talking about the possibility/ability of adding on...

It's been a while since I've made an update... Scheduled a date with the epoxy man to have him spend a day or two with us out here. Excited for new things and warmer weather, which will hopefully come sooner than later.

I love how seeing how the floor seemed to absorb all of that snow overnight! I think having the compressor inbetween the boxes and the workbench would be best. I don't think you'll have a problem finding a hose that will stretch across the overall size of the garage.

Awesome job turning a new space into a welcoming and organized garage! I'll be following your build. P.S. ... nice GLI.
