Thanks. When I was at the Chevy dealer in'73, the Old man there told me to keep my drawer slides working with wax. It works, I still do it today on my '77 10 drawer chest. When I get the box cleaned up some more, I'll post some better pictures.
Hello,
Does anyone have a part number and date for this box? I think "Dunlap" made these for Craftsman. I'm not sure. I have seen others that are similar boxes, but they did not have the slide trays. Looks like it's from the late 1950's.
Bought a Matco roll-cart and Maximus 2.0, off the Snap-on truck $700.00.
He took it in on trade for a Verus Edge. Used them for about 2 months, went to the Matco guy, and said, hey "how much to update the scanner"? He said about $650.00 for the year. I said damn, that's pretty good my Snap-on...
I sold one of them couple of months ago. Cheap construction, roller-bearing slides, auto close, but the handle used sheet metal screws to secure it. Also had a Harbor Freight 26 inch, top and bottom. Much better box, lots of room...
My first new box. Early 1973, went to Sears, and spent somewhere around $150.00 on a toolbox and tools. Used our new Sears "Charge-plate", had a $300.00 dollar limit on it. Came home and took pictures, wife came in. Thought I was dead for sure. You spent how much? Also got my draft notice that...
I think your right. Does look like it for sure. Picked it up in an estate sale. Dirty, patches of paint it. Little clean-up, car wax, looks good. I don't know if I'm going to flip it or not.
Here's some pictures. I would like to know what model it is.

Back when I started in 1973, we could only dream of owning a Craftsman box of that size. We were taking home about $190 a week. How things have changed.
Hello,
New here. I have an old Craftsman toolbox. It looks like a 6516 TombStone but, no numbers anywhere. I've seen other 6516's, mine has no Craftsman Tag mounted to the front or top. Instead, the "Craftsman" name is in raised letters on the front. The handle is metal, and painted the same...
