Right, I’m just curious if I should attach that ledger board to the last truss on the gable end of my barn And if that would be adequate for the weight of the roof, or should I drop posts up against the pole barn to support that ledger as well

I would cut the siding and flash up underneath it to the new roof. This is, of course, if I can attach the ledger board to the existing building
