Try to get to the striker and barrel apart. See if the striker moves freely in the barrel,might need new orings and a ton of grease. The striker is what hits the SDS bit and gets gummed up/seized from concrete dust dirt etc.

I use a 7/16 regular 12 point ratcheting box end (not spline) for beam clamps which have a square nut. Just bought some mastercraft/ gearwrench sae flex ends and cut off the open end and welded the two box ends together. they work great on square nuts.
