Jeepster Just a guess, but turn the vice upside down and see if there is a spring coiled around the screw near the handle end. If there is one, chances are that it's squished and lost its springiness. Dismantle the vice, remove the spring and stretch it a little using vise /Mole grips..then...

YouTube mechanic here is another one

That is a Woden "Unbreakable " vice. Indeed English made. Quite possibly a model 8 or 8A http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2436699&postcount=2 :)

McB The Record 6Vs was a new design, and made closer to the end of production in here, in England. This would explain why the jaw holes are spaced differently to the other 6" Records. You could fashion some new jaws for the 6Vs or drill and tap new holes to suit the ready made jaws from...

Van Steele "If I ever were to come accross a larger Fortis/Ajax or one of the American brands with a swivel jaw... if such thing exists in the wild - a swivel jaw Parkinsons I could rotate that with one of the others." What about a Fortis with a rotating head like a Swindens ? :D...

slow_runner If there aren't any markings, perhaps it's an export model of Woden that was imported into NZ by a distributor for rebadging and sale under their brand name. As CW says, a photo of the other side might help identifying it.

slow_runner You might have not noticed it but, the Made in England vice is a Woden. Your first post shows the other side of the vice, with Woden cast on the dynamic jaw and Model M131 on the body. The trapezoid anvil is a giveaway for Wodens :) I'm not sure about the smaller one. If...

Outlaw, Drives, DG, Fretters, CW et al., Cheers for the nice comments on the Parkinsons Ball base and SEVO :) I'm very pleased with the condition they both are in. Fretters Yes, the ball base vice has a Parkinsons "Handy" Made in England sticker. :) The slide dimentions and leadscrew are...

Hello Gentlemen, thanks for the compliments on the Samsonia :) These are the two other vices from a couple of weeks ago. 1) a second SEVO Swedish made drill vice (in the foreground) together with the earlier one. The 4 jaw plates — flat on one side and rounded on the other — are attached...

Got a free vice a few weeks ago . :bounce: It's a Samsonia, made by Parkinsons with 4 1/2 wide jaws, 41 lbs weight before after a quick bath in the e-tank and a wipe with an oily rag. Has minor battle scars caused by a hacksaw, but works faultlessly. Pics of the other vices to follow. :)
