    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT 1950s Craftsman Garage retro remodel

Now you make me feel old. I bought that model of drill press and still have it in use in my shop. Fred26thttp://garagejournal.com/forum/images/smilies/willy_nilly.gif

    Garage Door Choices

I had my door (sectional roll up) custom built. 12 X 11.5 foot. Most door installers can order and install these. I wanted to clear a 4 post lift with a truck on top. I live in earthquake country and the sectional is all we can use as an overhead door. Fred26t

    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT 1950s Craftsman Garage retro remodel

I need the ones that hold the blade cover onto a 12" Craftsman band saw I bought new in about 1964. The look very much like the cover nut you showed in one of your photos. Thanks, Fred26t

    Colorado 20 x 20 garage

Fighting with the city can be fun. Took me one year to get through planning. Battle was garage door size vs tree. Turns out city has a rule you must be able to back a Suburban out before there can be a turn in the driveway. So I have a 1 1/2 sized door. Fred26T

Question to those that have multiple lifts in their garage...

I have had the same lift in two different garages. Used H-D machine mover to move it. No problems with either floor. Now for those bumps on the head from getting out of the lower car: I padded the edges of mine with water pipe insulation foam around the outside to protect what is left of my...

has anyone actually cut holes in the ceiling for a lift?

I have a 26 Ford tall t. In my former home I installed a lift in the two car garage and had to cut 2 ceiling beams and a cross beam. I braced it up by doubling up all the other beams with "nondirectionsl plywood an another 2X4 with lots of glue and screws. I used a l8ft 4x4 on a floor jack to...

    Using Shims for Car LIFT

I did not bolt my lift down because someday I might someday want to re-arrange the garage and move the lift. Fred26t

Where is best location for the compressor?

You have two ways to go. Inside=more noise and a cleaner compressor. Outside less noise and more dirt into the compressor. I put mine inside. Sometimes hard to hear in the shop but compressors are expensive. Fred26t

The myth about four post lifts...

My lift came with a jack pad that slides from end to end of the lift. I can use a bottle or small floor jack and lift one corner or one end of the car to work on it. It just fits between the two ramps and hook on the edge. I have never tried to lift the whole car at one time. I don't have one...
