About 5-6 years into my last $100 push mower the spring was worn out. Not the proper repair by any means, but I cut the spring shorter, bent a new end and hooked it back up.
Ran it like that until the deck finally rusted threw a few years later.
I didn't find either of the stainless boxes, but I did find a new in box 59623 top box for $173 today. Haven't got it fully unpacked, but I'd say either way it's a lot of box for the money.
