Yes sunsation288, my system circulates clockwise. It leaves the heater goes through the spirovent, on to the pump, into the tubes, out of the tubes and then back to the heater.

Shawn, what kind of tape are you using for your vapor barrier and where did you get it? The local Home Depot doesn't seem to have anything specifically for vapor barriers.

Electrical wiring and data lines....same conduit?

You might also want to look into running fiber instead of CAT5E or CAT 6. I just ran a 200' run of 3 CAT6 TP and now wish I had thought of fiber before I ran it.

I just posted my solution over here: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2681021#post2681021 I agree with the Vermont poster that notching was the way to go, however I disagree with him that it was framed improperly.

    Gambrel Roof Venting Dilemma

Thanks for all of the comments, suggestions and especially the links to the venting primers. Those were very informative and answered a lot of the questions I had about this problem. After taking all of this into consideration and consulting with my builder here's the approach I am taking. For...

Thanks for the compliments. For most of my career I was a millwright and worked with all of the skilled trades picking up tips and techniques for pipefitting, electrical work, etc.. Really comes in handy around the house. Neat and precise are how I work and my wife thinks I'm a perfectionist to...

Nice work Shawn, should be nice and toasty in there. I plan on starting on my attic insulation tonight.

Here's mine. I started it up for the first time this past Monday. It's been running for 5 days now and I am very pleased so far. The gas company came and installed the meter and turned the gas on at around 11:00 AM. The outside temperature was 46 degrees. It had been down to about 28 degrees...

Nice job documenting the insulation project Shawn. Now I understand the 'false wall' concept better and how I might be able to apply it to my project. I'm not sure I need to do it though because I have 2x10 roof joists making up what will be my sloped walls and my 'wall' insulation (R-23) is for...

Yeah, that might work, I hadn't thought of that. I'll have to think about that a little more. Seems like it would create the air space on the wrong side of the insulation though. I'm not sure how this would apply to my situation or how I could use the suggestion. I have a continuous ridge...

    Gambrel Roof Venting Dilemma

We built a 30 x 40 Barn over the summer, Gambrel style with an attic. I have completed insulating the lower level and am ready to start insulating part of the attic. We are going to finish off about 2/3 of the attic space to be used as a game room, the remaining 1/3 will be unfinished and...

Shawn, great job on the build. I found this thread recently and have read it from the beginning with much interest. We started a similar build this past summer, a 30 x 40 Gambrel style barn with attic, although I had the structure built by a contractor and am doing the interior work myself. The...

    Insulating a stairway

I ended up framing a sloped ceiling partway up the stairs, about halfway. I feel better gaining the additional storage space above it and it will make it much easier to attach the OSB to the walls and ceiling. Here's what I did:

    Insulating a stairway

I don't have any pictures of under the stairs but I'll take a couple tonight and post them up. The stairs are pre-built from the building materials supplier the builder used. They are built like interior finished stairs would be, routed grooves in the sides with wedges and glue to hold them in...
