I recently bought a new Rigid to replace a really old shop vac. I looked at Rigid and Craftsman, in the end the Rigid was slightly cheaper and it also is covered with a lifetime warranty. Sears had an extended plan you could buy, but to me the warranty was the tipping point.

I'm a new user of this site, however I've been using the HD-9 assembly threads a whole lot in the last few weeks. I am just finishing up my new HD-9, I've been very impressed with how it's gone together. Good luck with your project, I'm so glad I've taken the dive.
