Don't get it on anything you don't want to ruin and don't eat it....I didn't do anything with the epoxy itself as far as safety...

A few sections of my original application did the same. I blamed it on temp/humidity or a partially unbalanced mix. Mine took several weeks for that section to fully harden, but when it finally did harden, it was just fine. Just my opinion, but waiting a few weeks is MUCH easier than removing...
