One of those great questions, seems easy on the surface, but it also depends on if you're talking about current production or vintage stuff. Also, do the odd sizes like 25/32" get included? 8 point? For some of my SAE sets, I cheat and look at the old catalogs for their master sets.
Since the...
I'm probably an anomaly here, because I'm going in a slightly different direction. My next buy will be 2 of Harbor Freights 44" boxes. I haven't decided yet if I will tie them together with a framework like I've done in the past, or use them with a maple top for a workbench. I don't get the hate...
I'm always on the lookout for quality older US made tools, not just for me also to build kits for my kids. Since Dad is the one they all when things break, It's easier to just make sure they have good stuff for me to use. If you have kids, you know what I mean! My 2 daughters still live at home...
Does anyone know when Craftsman Aviation specific tool sets first appeared? I seem to recall them in later year Industrial catalogs. Sorry if this has been addressed, I searched, but came up empty. Thanks!
Thanks Leviton. He was. I do the same thing with my kids. I've been going through things and have started putting together starter boxes for the grandkids now.
I think all off my friends had one of those socket sets thrown in the trunk. You could pick up one on sale for under 5 bucks. Over the years I broke one ratchet due to extreme abuse, definitely not the tools fault.
That got me digging through all my extra/truck/junk boxes for more K Mart stuff. So far, I've dug up a 3/8" and 1/4" socket set, a set of D.O.E. wrenches and a couple combination wrenches made in Korea. The Korean wrenches are definitely a lower quality as far as I can see.
Anybody have an...
With no students at the A&P school I teach at, I have lots of down time. Figured I'd start separating the tools I'd gotten from my Dad over the years. He had a habit of checking out my tool box, and remembering what I didn't have. On his next visit, he would bring things he thought I needed to...
There is definitely some passionate opinions here! HAHAHA Makes for a fun read though. After the video I now know what the hell backdrag is. Not sure if in my way too many years of working on aircraft, I've ever thought, or even cared about it. At least now I can throw the term out to my...
I have a "wanted" post for a Snap-on HS-2 hacksaw. Got a PM from a guy saying he has a friend with one for sale, and to email "Martin" @ janson1712@gmail.
Guy gets back to me telling me that it's in good condition and gives price. When I asked for pics, he tells me to pay thru cash app to...
