40x60 in Georgia - What am I missing?

Understand and it was made thicker as well. The original driveway was not in great condition prior to all the construction we did as it was 30+ years old. It had several heaves and crushed sections on the edges. My cousin who has been in the concrete business for 40+ years suggested the higher...

40x60 in Georgia - What am I missing?

Tomtom, the 3k vs 4k psi concrete for me was basically a cost vs benefit. While I didn't need 4k psi, for $5 extra a yard it was worth the minimal extra expense for a stronger slab. Not only did I have my garage slab (30x40) at 4k psi, when I had the drive way repaved (it was trashed from all...

40x60 in Georgia - What am I missing?

We added a 400 amp panel to our house and split 200 amp off to the existing house panel and 200 amp off to the garage. Consider using 4000 psi concrete, it does not cost much more per yard.

    concrete pump truck costs

I’ve seen them use a bucket on a Skid Steer. Pump trucks are not cheap, my cousin owns and operates one. He is about to sell his, not for the lack of business as he has plenty.

power washing and sealing new slab

Yes they are worth it. We have a lot of concrete and pressure wash it once a year. The surface cleaner makes quick work of it compared to just using the wand. Use some bleach on areas that need more attention. We use the one from Northern Tool...

How do you calculate DIY vs. hiring someone?

    1. Can I do the work? 2. Do I want to do the work? 3. What will someone charge to do the work? My last project was replacing 45 feet of fascia & soffit, replacing 24 feet of 2x8 roof decking and laying 3 bundles of shingles. Roofer wanted $6k. Materials were $500, I’m retired so my time is not...

    Need Wifi to Shop

Like others have said look into a mesh network. Mesh Network Explained: https://www.linksys.com/us/r/resource-center/whole-home-mesh-wifi/ I went with a Linksys Velop 3 node mesh network and have not regretted it. I have an acre + lot and can get Wi-Fi any where on my property. In fact my...

    Sticker Shock 30x40 New Build

Glad I built when I did about a year and half ago. About $45-$46 a square foot, used a contractor that specializes in building garages. It is a 30 x 40 x 9, 8/12 pitch roof with a 11 x 36 storage loft, brick front on the 30 foot side, Hardie plank siding painted to match house, double garage...

    Security cam nuisance motion alerts

When you figure it out, let me know, I had to turn mine off. It even alerted on the shadows of the trees moving when it was windy. I turned the sensitivity to the lowest setting.

    Gable Insulation

Yes, will be insulating the rafters, that is pretty straight forward. Just did not know what to do with the gable ends.

    Gable Insulation

How to I insulate the gable ends in my garage. The roof is a 8/12 pitch with the trusses made for a loft. The gable trusses have the 2 x 4 flat, so only the 1 1/2 inch part of the 2x4 is available to add insulation to. I want to have the loft insulated as well. I don't want to use sprayed foam...

zoning limits on size and height of detached garage

Our county has a 50% of heated square footage of your house, so if you have a 2,500 square foot house that is heated, then you can build a 1,250 square foot accessory structure. What I was not aware of, they include any existing sheds (even if they are portable) and/or lofts towards the allotted...
