Give me all your PVC trim advice!

I wanted small arbors over our two french doors on the south side of our house. We have a large chimney chase, Two foot deep and six feet wide. It is right in the middle of the end of the house. Originally the chimney was covered in T-111 siding like the whole house. It originally was trimmed in...

    Chemical storage shelf ideas

Mine is way classier. I have a milk crate and a cardboard box I use for non-combustible on the same industrial shelves. I do have a repurposed metal cabinet for my paint stuff. I’d love to see some good options for this. My challenge, NO WALL SPACE

Nail Gun Nails...Are the Cheaper ones a Deal or a Mistake?

I tried different nails in both of my Metabo’s and they didn’t like them. I have to use name brand nails for trouble free performance.

    proto type freezer/crate dolley

Cobbler, really nice design! The best I could do is I kept my son’s old skateboard. Slipping under one end of an appliance I wrestle whatever into place while kick turning over bumps in my way. Last use was moving in and out a new water heater. I like yours better!

How to pack end mills for shipping ? I dont have the original plastic containers

I would cut a piece of 2 x 4 pine, drill the appropriate sized holes in and place the end mills in the holes. I would then put my business sticker or business card on the outside. The new owner would keep them in this inexpensive storage block and contact you for more when they wear out or break.

What’s a good way to repair a crack in blacktop?

Gba2331, thanks for the link! That looks like a good product. How much for a bucket and where do you buy it? I think the Rapid Set is a very similar product. It has pebbles in with the binder and is dark grey in color.

What’s a good way to repair a crack in blacktop?

Stuart, you come from a land that has extreme temperature swings too, so I know I’m fighting a losing battle. I know the Rapid Set product will crack in time. I think it will adhere to the substrate better than the cold patch and with occasional application of the Sika caulk, I can keep most of...

What’s a good way to repair a crack in blacktop?

Hey, I missed my photo of the trowled Rapid Set. I still need to get another bag to finish the last three foot. It’s been raining every day and I have been installing a hardwood floor in my grandsons room. I might reseal the driveway myself if I can do it before it gets cold out.

What’s a good way to repair a crack in blacktop?

Carcruse, sorry for the tiny photos. Since I was adding six or so I chose small. You cannot see that the crack is much wider than deep. The original blacktop is lining the bottom of the wide crack. The new blacktop surface (now ten years old or so) is only about 1-1/2 “ thick here. Here is the...

What’s a good way to repair a crack in blacktop?

Four years, and here is the report as of now. Summer of 2025 I paid a local blacktop company to come out and seal coat the driveway. I showed them photos on my phone of the crack and they reassured me the crew knew how to successfully repair cracks like this using “cold patch”. There would be an...

    The repurposing thread

I have a stainless pan about that size. I use it for a plumbing catch pan whee a regular bucket is too tall. Think under sink etc. it also gets used as a paint pail instead of painting directly from the can. Soaking things in caustic chemicals is a use too.

I'm glad I tossed in a pair of channellock tongue n groove pliers into my tool bag today

If you were wearing your Panther vision lighted ball cap you would have had light right where you needed it and it doesn’t look stupid like some ******** headlamp. The on/off switch is right in the brim and if it is cold out you could be wearing the lighted beanie. But, I don’t own one of those.

    Replacing the whole house HVAC

Just to add another observation for those of us on the purchasing end of HVAC. My son had a nightmare room addition to his two story 1920’s home. His “contractor” talked him into getting a second heat/cool unit for his home. He contracted out the HVAC work and then didn’t pay the contractors, so...

    Extension cord repair ideas

At the time I restarted this thread, I had woken up to my extension cord with four outlets having spent the night in a rain storm facing up. Tipping it over water ran out of the four ground pin holes. I thought Dustball’s suggestion and link three outlet with twist lock seemed like a good...
