Miller 235 Up in Smoke. Need a Suitable Replacement!

That’s what the guy told me when I called tech support. Nowhere in the documentation did it say what liner size was installed. So I called their 1-800 number (which is the same for Miller or Hobart). He said he didn’t know, but told me just to stay on the phone while he found out. He went...

Wow, you guys are impressive. I can do anything mechanical, and rough framing, but if I‘m afraid if do cabinetry it‘ll look like a kindergartener did it. But you guys - outstanding!

    Who Remembers Enco?

Enco was my go to! Loved them. Was very disappointed when MSC absorbed them. Now I use Shars, Travers, and Penn Tool. If I was buying machines, I’d look at Precision Matthews, Grizzly, or Jet.

Miller 235 Up in Smoke. Need a Suitable Replacement!

My Hobart Ironman is a Miller 252 without the digital readouts. Hobart is great value IMHO. I have a PrimeWeld TIG welder that has been super, no issues at all. I would not hesitate to get anything from PrimeWeld.

    Forum for home machinists?

If he’s pretty handy / mechanical / gearhead type, he won’t have a difficult time picking it up. Basic information can be obtained in other ways, some would argue more efficiently. I know you did not ask for a book, however, I would say this book would be an excellent resource as well. I have...

Trying to weld repair rusted out pellet grill. Material issue

If it is painted and bolted together, the paint at the joints might be the issue. Try a magnet style ground on the same section that you’re trying to weld. Like this:

Any Welder recommendations for a newb

A Miller or Lincoln MIG would be great, but they’re out of most people’s price range these days unless you can find one used. I’d consider a Hobart or PrimeWeld as less expensive but quality alternatives. I’ve owned all 4 brands. Currently have a Hobart Ironman 240 and a PrimeWeld TIG 225X...
