    Move the truck to solid ground it is not going to hurt anything to move it a short distance. That is not heavy at very most it is 6000 lbs .

    Is a Scissor Lift worth the money?

    i would only go with a scissor lift if it is full height lift the ones that lift 4 ft or so you will still lay on your back to change oil, as bending to see at 4 ft is very hard on the body so full height lift or floor jack and stands . i dont care for ramps.

    3/8" drive good enough for all automotive maintenance provided a long enough breaker bar?

    The ball joint failed, tire went up into fender. I was able to get car parallel parked in downtown. Auto zone was couple of hundred yards away . Went got ball joint . Had dad bring tools . I was maybe 17 or 18. But had changed ball joints before. So I thought nothing of it at the time.

    The largest road side repair has been a lower ball joint on my first car a 82 ford granada . So yes 1/2 inch is deffinently required.
