What are the House Brands of tools?

I thought it was Blackhawk. My father-in-law has a set of sockets/ratchets that says "Blackhawk - by Proto" on the case.

    bionic crowbar

I'll buy 3, and I'll sign a waiver of liability if I have to. :) Let us know man, this is a positively awesome tool!

Looking for good quality air couplers

Milton is most people's top choice, brand wise. Is it possible the problems you're having are more to do with style rather than mfr? The ubiquitous M-type (the only kind HD and Lowe's sells, except for the occasional old-school T-type) fittings are by far the most prone to leakage, regardless...

    Measuring actual air CFM?

It's got to be possible--the gas company meters your usage by volume (which they convert into therms). All that would be needed would be to add a time dimension to the volume recording, to get to the flow rate. I can't tell you where to find it, but something to do this should exist.

    Opinion on air hose?

    You're in IL, so Menard's. 50' of 3/8" for $30 or 100' of 1/4" for $40.

    Opinion on air hose?

I second this. Picked up a 50' 3/8" at Menards for $30 and couldn't be happier.

Snap On, Bosch & Milwaukee Sub-Compact Driver review

It's not quite as small as those, but I've had the Dewalt 7.2V cordless screwdriver for about 6 years now, and it's my absolute favorite (and most used) cordless tool. Maybe the 12V models have a little more oomph. The Dewalt has no problem whatsoever countersinking 3.5" deck screws into...

    Nut Drivers- Why and when?

Nutdrivers also enable you to back out a screw/nut all the way with one hand, which is impossible with a ratchet unless the threads are galled or otherwise sticky. Once you break the fastener, there's not enough tension to reset the ratchet. So either you have to grab and release the socket...

    Hammers

I know you said no peg hooks, but I use LARGE peg hooks (double straight bars about 4-5" long) and put 2-4 hammers on a hook, kind of stacked out from the wall. Deadblows are on one hook, mallets on another, and 2 claws + 3lb sledge on the third.

    Compressor questions

No, Gary said you need a larger motor AND a larger compressor (ie pump). If you put a 20hp motor on a 3hp pump, the motor will draw the same amount of current as the 3hp did, and the pump will produce the same volume of air (assuming rpm stays constant).

How much money have you invested in tools?

I'm a weekender, so obviously I'll always be way behind some of you guys. :) With the compressor I installed last week and the associated air tools, I'd guess I'm now somewhere between $5500 and $7500. I do have to go through and inventory at some point--it might be time to add a third rider...

    snow throwers?

Obviously everyone's area varies, but I'm in Chicagoland and on a culdesac, so I get quite a bit of plowage buildup on the end of the driveway. Sometimes when it's a few feet tall I have to let it ride up once to take off the top layer and then hit it again to clear down to the pavement, but...

    snow throwers?

No way. My neighbor has a 9hp two stage monster, while I have a little 5hp single stage. I can do my driveway, sidewalks, and front walks in the time it takes him to do half his driveway--and my driveway is 20' longer! Plus I don't have to shovel afterwards, because it cleans right down to...

    Brick and Mortar Locations?

I think they'd do better by contracting with a small retail chain like Ace or True Value to set up microstores inside existing locations, rather than opening their own stores. Hell even one of the auto parts chains might work. But even then, it's a bit of a stretch, as there's a limited...

Morgan Series Air Compressor at Northern

I looked at that one when I was trying to choose a compressor for myself, but $315 shipping to IL killed it for me. For $799, I could have just gotten the exact same unit brand new from Lowe's.
