    Snap-on KRA-58B from 1966

That a great looking 1984 box JM! I'll replace my rag liners at some point :). Can anyone point me to a link on how to correctly size picts on here? Got the new keys back, work great and the box now locks. Locksmith said finding the blank was the hard part.

Didn't even know what these look like but Cope was good enough to send me an original slide tool. Some good people on this forum. Works like a charm - big deal to me and really nice to have! Got the lock at the locksmith for new keys, have to see if that works out.

    Let's see your toolbox.

Also posted in the vintage section when I got the box - hope that's OK? Snap-on KRA-58B from 1966, found on Craigs' List. Even came with the owners manual. Original paint, slides good shape and the guy said it had been in storage for many years. Did a simple cleanup and hit it with some car...

Pulled the bottom drawer to clean inside. Looking for a maybe a key but just found an old rag and stuff. Used a 12 inch Starrett scale to unlock the slides. Trying some candle wax for slide lube :)

    Snap-on KRA-58B from 1966

Perfect 40 toolbox? Found an old Snap-on KRA-58B from 1966 on Craigs' List. Even came with the owners manual. Original paint, slides good shape and the guy said it had been in storage for many years. Did a simple cleanup and hit it with some car wax. Very heavy, seems to hold a lot of tools.

    Welding in patch panels

Would be interesting to top coat a few of these samples and bury them outside for 6 months and see if the weld-baked EP prevents/impedes corrosion.

Nice torch holder! I just made this for my little J28 (custom rattle-can :D) but I don't know if it's going to really work that well...

Thanks Robert - bought the DVD - lots of good stuff on there. Funny, I had just bought a piece of RR rail/anvil at the local steel plant for $15 and he seems to use one a lot :). Picked up a Victor set (Journeyman 450) mostly to get the big old style gauges and will try to use the big torch...

Another great thread! Hope all is well with you Robert. I'm getting ready to buy a gas torch, to play at welding a bit (and for all the other misc uses). Maybe new, maybe used if I can find used. People are telling me to buy Victor, more established on the west coast I guess. I was going to buy...

Wow - this thread is still alive! Nice to see that green epoxy "weld primer" in action again. Hope all is well with you Robert. I'm getting ready to buy a gas torch, to play at welding a bit (and for all the other misc uses). People are telling me to buy Victor, more established on the west...

Funny but I still find myself returning to this thread like some kind of reference manual. Thanks again Robert.

    Welding in patch panels

Got a 3M paint mask and picked up some PPG DP50LV epoxy primer and hardener that I'm going to experiment with in some hidden areas where cosmetics are not so important. Thought I would use a brush to begin with, test out some curing/welding issues and work my way toward spraying a little at some...

What is this tool and what is it used for?

I think this comment hits the mark. Tapered reamer = tapered hole - for tapered pins or tapered anything else. Check something like a Machinery Handbook and you'll find detailed info on different taper #s and critical dimensions for critical uses. Years ago we used them with tapered steel pins...
