I had a 20 deep x40 wide Versatube Carport with a brick floor which collapsed in an ice storm. So now I have a 20x40 parking lot.
I'd like to try and build a solar panel carport of similar dimensions.
Anybody else doing that here?
Looking for links to resources.
Look at the tractor forums like TBN. Many many users. Often requires minor mods, like most HF stuff, but is reportedly a good bang for the buck, WHEN GOTTEN ON SALE.
You really need to define "best".
Least cost?
Fanciest?
I try to keep most of my "stuff" on HF dollies, from 900 pound tractor attachments, 800 lb planer to 36" toolboxes.
And I try to keep about 4 or so on hand, just to help move that big box I didn't know I was going to buy.
Lumber doesn't care about math. And it's relatively easy to do another 2' and get 20% more space.
I was "cramped" with the 150 sq ft shed for 4 decades, what a relief when we bought the place we are retiring to, with 5,500 sq ft of workshops.
I had a similar problem - 150 sq ft permit limit
I went 15x10 and put on a gambrel roof and have plenty of overhead storage.
In this day of massive amounts of cardboard boxes I found it helpful to store my empty boxes for electronic equipment (in case of returns) and other "light" stuff, such a...
yup. Do you have to do 4 walls and a ceiling?
Especially if you are doing only two walls you could put up pallet rack and make the first level workbench height. Then lay sheets of plywood and you've got instant workbenches.
Check to see if any zoning changes are in the works and what are the implications if you go over the size limit. I built a shed at my max size limit at the time, 150sq ft. Then a few years later they changed it to 240 sq ft. I sure could have used the extra 90 sq ft.
I've seen others who are...
ROTFLMAO!
I did not see a mention of the little windmills that people used to deploy. Basically a small propeller on a stick that vibrated the ground when the wind blew.
I also think a good den of black snakes would help.
Well my county does the same.
When I have a bunch of "stuff" like apple branches (which take up a lot of space per unit length because they fork all over the place) I use 2 strips of twin and a ratchet in the middle. Then I'll make a big mound, wrap the strap around them and ratchet it down...
My Dad had a way I liked. He'd go out in the yard with a pocketful of small firecrackers. Drop a lit one in a mole hole, put his booted foot over the hole. "Thump".
Apparently they don't like sudden loud sounds.
Don't do this in thin sandals.
If you go into your album and click on a picture it should pop up a window with the picture and below it a line with URL and a line with BB code.
I grab the line with BB code and put that text into my post.
I posted the pic below by "left clicking" on your pic then selecting copy image...

Just like drywall dust.
I use a 2 gallon w/d vac attached to my ROS when sanding drywall, no bag. I put about 2" of water inside and run a tube from the intake down below the water. Acts like a hookah. Probably would work the same with wood ash.
