Looking for a high quality mini 1/4" ratchet. Hazet vs Ko-Ken?

I have both of these. The Koken is a far better 1/4" ratchet due to its far lower backdrag. The Hazet is nice and smooth, but a little stiffer and not as efficient for typical 1/4" drive jobs.

    Bench Vise

You are just turning opportunity into a business as a middleman. Nothing wrong with that, more than half of the economy is middlemen. There's just a lot more middlemen in the used goods market than there were 20 years ago. With the internet especially, niche goods that are difficult to sell...

    Bench Vise

I recently bought a new Wilton Tradesman 1765, and I was pretty well disappointed with fit/finish and QC, even for the discounted price I bought it at. I had to request a replacement spindle assembly because the one that came with the vise, had the handle hole drilled so far off square that the...

    Bench Vise

That's a C0, while it's "only" a 3-1/2 inch jaw width, it's an absolute unit. Weighs 51 lbs, more than the 6 inch Vevor vises posted earlier. I don't think I would buy one for $400, but for $300 and I had no vise? Maybe.

Care and feeding of a bench vise

In addition to the screw and nut, I usually apply just a dab or two of grease to the ways that support the dynamic jaw slide from underneath. If the main screw and nut are shielded from debris, they probably don't need much refreshing. Maybe once a decade if it sees a lot of use. Think about...

In for 1 carton. Ends up just over 1/2 the price of Pennzoil Platinum at Wally World per quart which is where I usually get my stuff.

Can we completely replace our combo wrenches with ratcheting ones yet?

No. They work great for maybe 80% of situations where a normal combo wrench works, but that other 20% need the super slim ring of a standard box end for clearance.

    Anyone using splined sockets?

    Yep I use em frequently

Using sockets with the shop press?

impact, the black oxide finish is a little less slippery than chrome and has no chance of cracking/flaking under unusual stress

    Multi-speed/application Makita Impact Driver Issues

Set to speed "4" and turn off the "A" assist. Use trigger to modulate. Done. The assists and lower speed modes are optional and do not need to be used if you don't want.

What is it that makes a vise good?

A vise is only as good as its support. The sturdier and more immobile its bench or pedestal, the better the vise can perform. Once that is assured, then the durability of the vise itself can come into question. Especially if you do a lot of hard percussive work that subjects it to lots of...
