Maple, yes you can weld it ,but success with anything but o/a with cast iron in stick form and matching flux is questionable. You need a pile of fire bricks , a propane preheater , a ceramic fiber blanket to cover the bricks, and really makes it nice to have an infrared...

I have most of a set of 1 1/2 drive sockets ,the biggest one is 3 7/8 , also have the impact gun to run it and a 2000 lb torque wrench 1 1/2 drive. george

Bill, What you are looking for is a submerged arc crankshaft welder. I I have one that was built by standard crankshaft . The most popular and best ones are from Gleason works . I also have a sub arc machine much bigger than the crank welder for building rollers and front wheels...
