Thanks guys! I'm clearing room in the garage now and hope to get the pole into the building for winter. I'm thinking that a new base with flange supports is in my future, and likly abandoning the old base bolts. I'll update this thread as things progress.

Fair point. An older sign was roughly 4x4 and made out of plywood, but again that was about 12 years ago.

Nadogail, I agree. That is generally the tract I'm on now. Part of my interest and concern is that I don't know if the setup is correct as is. I'm moving forward as if it is, but if some one has some insight I'd be glad to listen in the hope that it Will help the project along.

Let me preface the title by saying "I hope i'm" So I've got all the makings of a shop compressor setup. A two stage Champion compressor, GE motor, and 80 gallon tank. Only problem is that I didn't gather the components and I cannot find any info on the pieces so that I can make it work together...

I've heard of the freezer trick working but I've also heard its a one shot deal. If it doesn't work the HD becomes unusable. Good Luck. I've got a similar issue with my home computer.
