I had one on my patio. The style that has the umbrella looking dome on top to reflect heat down. It was near useless outside in the cold unfortunately.
i had a smaller propane salamander, I forget what it’s max was. Maybe 40,000 btu or 60,000 and it made it fairly manageable when it was cold enough to be snowing outside. But you had to have that sucker pointed right at ya.
Here’s a second larger portable unit. This is nice as it’s self contained with the fuel tank. No having to lug around propane tank too like other unit. Of course Kero doesn’t burn as clean. It does require a power cord though and seems to have a blower, so idk that you'd call it try...

I'll worry about a quiet setup when I build myself a shop someday.
This’ll only be about a 2-3 times a year thing. Prepping snowmobiles for winter. And doing some boat work.
So far no issues with condensation or roof melt. Even with my propane heater that dump tons of moisture into air
This is almost the equivalent of holding a match outside this unit is...
Ya I hear ya, I have rented it for about 3 years now. I should have done it a lot sooner. The guy in the bay next to me is doing some woodwork and now i've been getting dust on all my stuff thanks to that. Some plastic up def would help that too!
