    LEDs and garage door openers

https://www.oann.com/newsroom/biden-administrations-lightbulb-ban/ This should be interesting. No more incandesents after August? I better "settle" quickly.

    LEDs and garage door openers

I'll probably settle for a couple old fashioned 60 watt incandescents. Some light is better than no light or interfering RF.

Is CFL the best bet? No RF. Less heat?

    LEDs and garage door openers

LEDs in the opener. Red light on wired button blinks rapidly. Lights at motor blink on/off, garage door stops half way up or down. All sorts of random, non- functioning useless and aggravating behavior. I've never had this sort of problem before, either. I've had 6 houses over past 40 years...

    LEDs and garage door openers

A few months ago my garage door started working erratically. I called the pro and he demonstrated that the LEDs in the garage door opener were the culprit. RF from LEDs interfere with wireless transmissions - even with the wired button apparently, which makes little sense to me. So I dutifully...

    Garage insulation

2 sides ac space, 1 side behind masonry block wall is neighbors garage. Block remains coolish. The only outside space is behind the garage door.

Cellulose. I've never seen the attic temp above 130F. Typically tops around 120. Yes. It is a big ask of the 8,000 BTU unit. Takes the temp down around 10 degrees below ambient. Hoping with the added insulation it might come down 15 degrees.

    Garage insulation

Despite no responses to this question, I am having another 6" blown in to my garage attic. I'll report after awhile. Any other comments certainly encouraged. Oh, and the insulation firm said adding anything else into the garage door void between the existing foam and the metal won't...

    Garage insulation

Central Florida 1.5 car garage (12' x24' x8') surrounded by interior walls on 3 sides with insulated metal garage door facing south. Attic temps are typically +100 to 120+. While the attic over the garage has 5 or 6 inches of blown insulation, there still seems to be too much radiated heat from...

    Using car for emergency power

Saying it's not efficient to run off the car in normal times is quite obvious, doncha think. This thread was not about "normal times." Yes, I already have a dual fuel generator and a couple of high powered solar power stations. My question was focused on Plan C situations -if additional power...

    Using car for emergency power

The hamster wheel would be great in a pinch, with enough hamsters. "Yup, I have a 1,000 hamster emergency power supply - it generates 100 watts continuously. But the feed bill is horrendous." But if it's for a rare emergency it might be worthwhile. Just joking to point out that out of the...

    Using car for emergency power

Wondering how many of you have arranged to use your car for limited backup power in your home in case of emergency, and what hardware do you use to do it? Of course, you would need a full tank of gas, DC to DC converter, or DC to AC inverter, maybe an oversized alternator, a battery bank or...

Garage improvements to help a portable ac unit.

I have a 14,000 btu portable unit in my 417 sq. ft. attached garage, surrounded by indoor space on three sides with insulated ceiling and insulated garage door facing south - the hot side. No windows; the AC is vented out the soffit. I learned there are two methods to measure btu's. The...
