M12 Battery Choice for 1/2 Impact?

Just make sure you buy from a reputable source, counterfeits show up everywhere. For an impact gun, I'd own at least one of the larger size. Just have the smaller as a backup. BTW, love the M12 line, I don't even touch my air tools anymore.

Problem with estwing dead blow coming apart

My Harbor Freight one has become really sticky and tacky, I just wonder if if it's pretty widespread for the type of material used that it breaks down over time, from the high end ones to the cheap ones. I used some baking soda and water (read this online) and it really helped make it way less...

Whats killing the traveling tool vendor business

Who said you can buy "unbranded" Snap on ratchets? I didnt. Snap on sells other 3rd party tools with their name on it, and then jacks up the price by an absurd margin. My point is, that's exactly what they're also doing with stuff they make in house. Here's a whole website devoted to finding...

Whats killing the traveling tool vendor business

It's a broken and out-of-date distribution model that shafts the consumer. It's almost built around people who are too stupid to figure it out when they blatantly just sell the same thing with a different label and expect people to keep buying from them. The only way the tool truck model...

Seeking Help to Price My Snap-On Toolbox

You can get a like new, 73" Snap On box for $2999? That has not been my experience at all. But no argument the Snap On box is better for all the above reasons. But it's not really a fair comparison to price a used tool box against a new one. What about the discount with a used Icon box...

Seeking Help to Price My Snap-On Toolbox

I just was at a Harbor Freight and saw that line. Really impressed, way better than I would have expected. I may buy one myself, was sort of in the market for a used Snap On box. In the past where I've looked at some, previous owners just couldn't get real on price. I think I offered like...

What types of sockets can you skip? If u have ratcheting wrenches?

I would say for a shade tree person, only get 1/2" impact sockets and skip hand sockets for that size. I personally would have 1/2" set before I got 1/4" set. I rarely use 1/4" (but it obviously has applications. It just depends on how "shade tree" you are. My advice would maybe just get...

Why are old Craftsman Professional screwdrivers so expensive?

I had no idea they were "worth" this kind of money, I might just sell mine. They're good screwdrivers, but nothing to command those sorts of prices. I'd rather have a set of Snap-On.

Neighbor selling their pioneer mini split

They're such a cheap unit new anyways, it would have to be basically free for me to want to fool with it. Not worth my time to get a used unit all to save like $400.

    New HVAC Installation Costs?

I paid $8k for a 3.5 ton Trane Heat pump XR model around 2021 (post Covid). Variable air handler, single speed compressor, I think it's a 15 Seer. New electrical pullout, new condensation line. Established place, been around forever. Very happy with install. My guess is the equipment was...

HVAC contractor pricing - no thanks

It's an obscene profit, don't buy into this "overhead" nonsense. There are places that shoot the moon, and unfortunately some homeowners pay it. I knew one place that does the $18k-$20k install for a mid grade heat pump and has all the forms ready so they can put a lien on your house and have...

    Snap-On Pliers - Quality Issues?

There's no reason to buy Snap On pliers and pay their absurd markup when Knipex is available (imo). You can buy 2 Knipex pliers for the price of one Snap On.

    Garage window fan

Your kids game room is also going to get hot if you have an open window and the garage is 100 degrees throughout the day. I would think worse than a vehicle pulling in. I just don't see one of those window units making a dramatic difference in pulling out the heat sourced from a vehicle...

    AC outdoor unit problem

It's very likely a capacitor. Also, with the unit disconnected, get a long screwdriver and try to manually spin the condenser fan and see if it freely spins or if it feels locked up. Might need both.

    Garage window fan

If it's 100+ degrees outside, I'm not sure if it really accomplishes all that much. I would think leaving a fan in a window would negate the insulation. You're trading insulation away for something that cools down by itself in a short amount of time. So now your garage will always be as hot as...
