How much torque breaks a rusty bolt? Use a torque bar to prevent breaking?

Since you just did a brake job you probably noticed that you don't have enough room to use an impact wrench except for wheel removal. Using a 1/2" breaker bar with the exact length extension plus a pipe cheater will loosen most. You can use a ratchet after it is broke loose. You need a torque...

Everything you need to know about bench vises...

Just a couple of vise stories. Years ago I worked at a VA hospital. We could order stuff from GSA. I ordered a 4" mechanics vice. I didn't read the whole description carefully. When it arrived it weighed 80 pounds. When I bought a vice for my personal use I bought a big one made in China. I was...

    skylights have no foam seals?

All sky lights are bad. They are too thin and do not hold up to the weather. Just get metal replacement ridge cap.

Anyone familiar with well cycle stop valves?

30 years ago I was installing water to my shed. It was 200' from my house. Bought that plastic stuff. The excavator said "I can install that, and I will be back to dig it up in a few years." He recommended copper tubing, expensive but I did it and no problems.

    Anyone else like Channellocks?

A great American made tool. A common commercial electrical specification calls for compression couplings and connectors. Channel locks are the tool of choice. We use different sizes depending on the EMT size. Plumbers like them too, theirs will be full of pipe dope.

    Air Compressor shed ideas/tips needed.

You might want to install two disconnects one in the garage and one in the shed. The disconnect in the shed is mandatory, "within sight" the one in the garage you can turn on when you need air. Pressure on most units will go down over time causing unnecessary cycling.

    New guy from Wisconsin

Hi everyone, I am a retired electrician and a mechanic by necessity. I picked Gladiator as a handle because I had a Jeep Gladiator snow plow for many years. My current plow is a Silverado, sort of fancy compared to the flame belching Gladiator. Attached is a picture of my Farmall 300 ready to...

    Gladiator

Hi everyone, I'm a new member. I picked Gladiator as my handle because I owned a 1968 Jeep Gladiator at one time. I used a picture of Sofia because she looks way better than me. I bought the Jeep with a snow plow on it. It was 20 years old. I used it for another 15 years. It didn't really fit in...
