I really like it in spite of the mismatched jaws. I like the smooth jaws too. I’ll probably clean it up a bit and use it for awhile. I may sell or trade it sometime in the future if it isn’t a good fit for what I need. I’m on the fence. It would be a certain keeper if it had the fancy letters.
I’d have to agree that is does look that way. The rest of the vise doesn’t look abused enough to have ever needed a replacement, but the moving jaw is different in width and height. Both have perfectly flat places too. It looks so lightly used. I wish I knew the history of the vise.
I picked up this nice Prentiss 19 1/2 this weekend. I wish it had the fancy Prentiss writing, but it still looks fantastic . It will need a little work to loosen the pin and swivel base. It looks to be in great shape otherwise.

Thank you Shiftless! Yes! I was absolutely amazed! It just popped out effortlessly. Everything I have read or watched about them made me think it was going to be stuck fast.
I couldn’t believe this Columbian 403 1/2 was on a bench at an estate sale on the second day. Great price too! I couldn’t unbolt it fast enough. It is in good condition save for that “ergonomic” swivel lock nut handle. There is also a tiny bit of welding solder on top of the jaws.

I picked up this great little Rock Island 571 vise the other day. It is so small! It was dirty, but in excellent condition. The only problem is a small broken casting bubble on the spindle. It has a Birtman Electric plaque so I figured it was from between 1930-1950. The stamps underneath the...
I picked up my next vise project to work on concurrently with my Parker 995 1/2A restore. It is a Yost 204 1/2 with rotating base. It looks like was painted all over to cover up all the rust. It looks in great shape other than the main screw. It is welded together. I’ve been searching for a...
