What did you do "IN" your garage today?

That is the end goal because I want to get it higher in the rafters & be able to lower it slowly. I got the framing in the rafters with eye bolts & the ones under the platform with eye bolts. I am looking into multiple pulleys to reduce the weight & hopefully just have a lag bolt high & low to...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Came up with an easier way to lift the RTT off our truck. With it being so tall on the vehicle & bulky, it's just cumbersome to take on & off. Makes a nice out of the way storage too.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I'm seriously considering one of these Gear Vendors for my '67 Barracuda. Can't decide if I should just do that or a Tremec 5 speed.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I just knew I needed a bigger vice than my china made $40 lightweight one. They had 2 Wiltons, which I have heard of as a good vice, but they had the Wiltons with turntable base & I've never had good luck with the cheap turn style ones & didn't know about the Wilton's. I figured an old made...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I picked up a big Reed MFG Co vice a year ago from a silent auction up at my work to the employees. Surprised I picked it up for only $50. It's nice & heavy, also picked up the table with 1" steel top for $80. It will all be going up to my new pole barn shop in the next week or so. Not sure...

New Pole Shop in the woods

Yep, 3 hours the first afternoon & almost 5 hours the next morning & it was done. Really like the quality of the work too. Going to do electric next then figure out some sort of ventilation to decrease condensation.

New Pole Shop in the woods

The concrete guys formed up this past Wednesday afternoon & then poured Thursday a little before lunch. They put 1/2" rebar on 30" centers. They put 4 dug out spots with rebar between going from the main floor to the 10' pad out front. The concrete truck driver wasn't comfortable...

New Pole Shop in the woods

The framing & sheetmetal went great, no issues, the guys were top notch & everything is nice & straight. They had one guy pre-nailing all the wall girts, pre-building the door headers, pre-cutting the gable perlins & pre-drilling the sheet metal holes. The guys were really quick too, they...

New Pole Shop in the woods

After a 11 week waiting period it was another 2 weeks till they got out to start, they really have quite a back long. The materials showed up a day before the builders. I was really pleased with the quality of the wood they used. All the regular lumber was grade 2 instead of grade 3 which...

New Pole Shop in the woods

30x40 Pole Shop in the woods Been putting off doing a shop for a while. Tired of paying storage for our boat & our 14 yo sons '69 Dart project so decided to build instead of throwing money away. Decided on a local well known company to build a 30x40x10 Pole Barn Shop with 4" thick concrete...

Cold weather concrete pour in new 30x40 pole barn

I'm comfortable with it & hope it lasts as it should. Luckily we didn't get as low of temps the first night, Thurs night/ Fri morning, as forecasted. I monitored the concrete temps closely & the warm ground temps didn't allow the concrete to go at or below freezing, closest was 35* the morning...
