    Craftsman Premium Grade Ratchets

I have a set of these the last time they were on sale - I love them. Reach for them every time I need a ratchet out of the toolbox. The 3/8" ratchet locked up on me once - there was some small rock or other dirt that had gotten in. Cleaned and lubed it and it's as good as new.

Got it. Thanks for the tip about that friction point. I'll probably just use some multi purpose / wheel bearing grease that I have lying around.

The more I see that, the more I feel that is the way to go. Won't have to worry about masking and painting either. Did you just synthetic grease to lube it all up? I see some red grease poking out there.

    Wilton 450N Value

Thanks for the tip. I had started to tackle it and went with a paint stripper....there were a couple layers of paint on there....Found two or three shades of blue and some green as well. I'm using my drill and a fine wire wheel, but it's slow going. I think this project is going to be the...

What type of wire wheel? Something coarser or more on the fine side and a softer metal?

What did you use to strip it? I've some pictures you have posted and they look great. I was thinking about a wire wheel, but I didn't know what type so that I don't scratch anything up. Any recommendations?

First Vise Restoration - Wilton C2

Looks good! I'm about to start a restore job on 450N i just picked up today...trying to get as much info here as I can! Anyone know where I can get replacements of those rubber gaskets on the handle of the vise? the one I picked up today does not have them, and I wish that it did.

WTB: Wilton 4" or 4 1/2" bullet vise

Found a 4 1/2" Wilton locally for a decent deal. Needs some cleanup but it will look good...it's a 450N, so it doesn't have the swivel. Anyone have a swivel base that would work? I'm looking for one of those now!

Got any more of those swivel bases? :-) I've seen a couple real nice looking ones on ebay - it may have been the same one you just sold. I would have loved to have it, just more than I was looking to spend.

Thanks for the advice - It was a little on the farther side, but I wound up taking a ride to take a look. Looked at the items you mentioned - everything checked out just fine. The seller had emailed me the full size version of above, those small ons make it look a lot worse than it was. Even...

    Wilton 450N Value

I'm looking for a Wilton and have seen one locally. The seller is looking for 125 for the vise. The paint is a little rough on it, but otherwise it's in decent shape. Is this a decent price? I understand it's not a steal like i see posted, but I just want to make sure it was decent...

WTB: Wilton 4" or 4 1/2" bullet vise

Yup - it's referencing the shape of the body. I don't have any vise to trade currently, but if you wouldn't mind checking I would appreciate it. If it's under 70 pounds, it MAY fit in a USPS large flat rate shipping. That would be the most economical way to ship. Thanks for the heads up -...

Thanks for the photos - however I would prefer a swivel base. I'll keep you in mind in case I dont find anything.
