Here is one we did a few years ago for a customer.

When a jack leaks as you have described, it is either a discharge ball/seat, or the cup is leaking on the main piston. Do not adjust the overload with out a load cell to determine the actual pressure.

You can buy optic half rounds made of acrylic. My dad would turn a piece of plastic then cut the threads and epoxy the half round to the machined piece. worked like a champ.
